Goodbye Santa
As I was sewing a Santa Purse for an order this week, I discovered that I am down to the last couple of yards of one of my favorite fabrics. Technically named "Ho Ho Ho Be Jolly" by Susan Zulauf for Brother Sister Designs-- apparently, I've called this fabric many things over the years: Leopard Santa, Hip Santa, Ho Ho Ho Be Jolly, Santa Faces, etc. Realizing that I was quickly coming to the end of this "Santa Era," curiosity got the best of me and I spent (way too much) time digging through my records to remember some fun facts about this adorable fabric.
- The date on the selvage of the fabric is 2002. (It's been out of print for a long time!)
- I made 4 or 5 aprons using the fabric before I decided I preferred making purses with it.
- I've made at least 244 purses using this fabric since 2006. (Not so fun fact: the records for my original website are on paper! I can't say for sure how many sold from 2006-2014 on my OG website...)
- I made 5 different types of purses using the Santa Faces with coordinating red fabric.
- 165 Santa Purses (regular size AND mini size)
- 68 Santa Totes
- 8 Santa Hipster Bags
- 3 Crossbody Santa Purses (*I carry one of these from Thanksgiving to New Years!)
So, it's not goodbye forever quite yet. But unless I find more fabric to buy online (you never know!) I will be making my last Santa Purse or Santa Tote in the near future. That will make my husband very sad because out of all the things I've made over the last 19 years, the Santa Purses are his favorite.
