When I discovered the Atomic fabric collection (from Michael Miller Fabrics) in 2016, I fell in love with its mid-century modern vibe. The main print (Atomic) reminded me of a clock that my grandparents had in their home. It took me a little while to decide what I wanted to make with it, but I loved the resulting Pinafore Apron. That apron was quite popular and I made lots and lots of them from 2017 to 2019. Once the fabric went out of print, I used my saved scraps to make other things with these pretty fabrics.
I'm always looking for ways to use the scraps and remnants of fabric that are left over after making an apron. I keep the left over fabric in totes to be used for future projects. With a few smallish scraps, I made some waist aprons. With a few remnants of varying lengths, I made a couple of one-of-a-kind scrapbuster pinafores combining small bits of other coordinating fabrics from the Atomic collection. Michael Miller re-released the main Atomic print a couple of years ago. In a weak moment, I bought a few yards of it since I still had a bit of one of the other coordinating fabrics. Now that I've used up just about ALL the scraps from this collection--I will stick to my use-it-up pledge and not buy more of this beloved fabric!!! I still have a small pile of scraps that I can't bear to throw away, but they are probably too small to use for another apron-- but you just never know, so I will keep them!
All of this reminiscing leads me to the announcement of the very LAST Atomic Pinafore I will make for my shop. It's a reverse-placement option of the most recent version from 2022. I'll list it as OOAK & ready to ship now. I am OUT of the fabrics and there is no plan to ever recreate the apron. I have just listed it on my website and in my Etsy shop.
